The the late 1800’s the addition of chlorine to our water began and by 1904 was the standard for water treatment, and for the most part remains today. Chlorine is used because it’s the cheapest mean of disinfection not because it is  the safest or even the most effective means of disinfection.  According to the U.S. Council Of Environmental Quality, “Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine.”

Unfortunately they don’t show the Vitamin C shower head even though it is still gaining in popularity.  They do talk about the importance of removing chlorine from your shower water.  Remember, regular charcoal filters can still leave some chlorine behind and don’t remove chloramines, which is being used in more and more water treatment plants as a disinfectant because it has less of an odor.

Sonaki Vitamin C Shower Filters work on principals based on simple chemistry.

Each Sonaki Vitamin C Filter Cartridge contains enough food grade vitamin c to equal the same vitamin c in roughly 500 oranges. This Vitamin C is in a powder form that is pressed into a larger pill that is then shape and placed into the filter cartridge.

This cartridge is designed to fit into the transparent polyurethane handle that the water flows through on it’s route of deliver to the shower head. As the water passes through this cartridge, the chemical reaction takes place that eliminates the chlorine from the water.
